Research experiences

  • 2018 – 2021 : Ph.D. in Earth Sciences, “Characterization and geochemical functioning of laterites of the Amazonian Shield “, University Paris Sud (France) The aim of this Ph.D. is to characterize different weathering profiles by a precise mineralogical and geochemical study in order to have a better understanding of weathering processes that had occurred through time to create these deep regoliths. Besides, another part of this work consists on dating by (U-Th)/He Fe-hydroxides and Fe-oxides, i.e. goethite and hematite, of duricrusts from Suriname (collected during field trips 2017 and 2018). This work will highlighted major weathering periods that have formed duricrust and will be associated with weathering processes determine in the first part. While much of seminal geochemical and mineralogical studies were performed on deep tropical soil profiles, only a handful of recent studies have aimed at a better characterization of weathering processes and rates in these contexts.
